Business user account
This deletes your business user login and removes you from every business you belong to. It does not close a business or delete the business's records.
Open ProfileGo to your Profile. Delete account is at the bottom of the page.
Finish what still needs youIf you are the only owner of a business, close the business or transfer ownership to another person first. Delete account lists each business where you are the only owner, with a Close business link. See Close a business. Reassign or finish your active and upcoming appointments and any customer visits in progress. If a plan change is in progress at a business where customers can book you, deletion waits until it ends. An owner can cancel an open change on the Plan and billing page, in the app or in a web browser. Confirm with your passwordEnter your current password and choose Delete account.
Customer account
This deletes the login you use as a customer of businesses on Ongati.
Open AccountGo to Account. Delete account is at the bottom of the page.
Request a fresh sign-in codeChoose Send a fresh sign-in code. Ongati emails a six-digit code to the address on your account. The code works for 10 minutes.
Confirm deletionType DELETE MY ACCOUNT exactly, enter the code, and choose Delete account.
Business user: removed
- Your sign-in. Your password is replaced and you are signed out on every device.
- The name, email address, phone number, country, and contact preferences on your login.
- Your access to every business you belonged to.
- Your team profile details in each business: name, email address, phone number, job title, and photo. The profile is turned off.
- Pending team invitations and ownership transfers that you sent or that were sent to your email address. Ongati cancels them, so they can no longer be accepted.
- Your connected calendars. Ongati disconnects them and deletes the stored access.
- App push tokens on your devices.
- Sign-in codes, verification codes, and password reset links.
Business user: kept
- Every open business you belonged to stays, with its bookings, customers, payments, reviews, and messages, for its other owners and team. A closed business stays closed, and its records are kept as listed under Close a business.
- Appointments that list you show an archived placeholder instead of your name.
- Some business records keep the name you had when they were made, such as appointment payment, commission, and program records, and messages that were already sent.
- Records that you accepted Ongati's Terms or payment terms, with the name, email address, IP address, and browser details you used then.
- Support requests and messages you sent to Ongati, with the name and email address on them.
- Records of emails and text messages sent to you through Ongati, with the email address or phone number they went to. Some also keep your name.
- Records of the canceled team invitations and ownership transfers, with the email address they were sent to.
- An archived placeholder of your login, with no name, email address, or phone number, so records that refer to it stay valid.
- Age confirmations you gave when you signed up or when you created a business stay with the archived login.
- For each device where you used the app: a one-way fingerprint of its push token, the device type and app version, your notification choices for it, and the record of notifications already sent to it.
- Browser notifications you turned on are switched off, so Ongati sends nothing more to them. Each one keeps its encrypted browser address and keys, its label if it has one, your notification choices, and the record of notifications already sent to it.
- A record that you deleted your account, with a one-way hash of your email address and the IP address of the request.
- Ongati's audit records of other actions taken with your login. These can include the IP address used.
- Kept records have no automatic deletion date.
Customer: removed
- Your sign-in. Your password is replaced and you are signed out on every device.
- The name, email address, phone number, and time zone on your login.
- Your saved businesses and account invitations.
- Password reset links. Any unused deletion code stops working.
- App push tokens on your devices.
- The link between your login and each business's customer record, visits, event sign-ups, and form answers.
- If a business knew you only through your Ongati login, its notes and tags about you are erased.
- Visits and event sign-ups you made through your login show “Deleted customer” without contact details, unless they are tied to a customer record the business keeps.
- Event messages sent to you through your login are anonymized.
- Text messages from businesses that have your email address on file are switched off until you agree to them again. Ongati cancels text requests still waiting for your reply.
- The last four digits of your phone number are removed from text consent records, unless that number is still used by another active account, customer record, upcoming booking, or waitlist entry.
Customer: kept
- Bookings and payments stay with the business, with the name, email address, and phone number you gave when booking. Deleting your account does not change them, even where your visits and event sign-ups show “Deleted customer”.
- A business keeps the customer record it holds for you, with the contact details it collected, and the visits and event sign-ups tied to that record. They are no longer linked to your login.
- Form answers and typed acknowledgments you sent stay with the business. They are no longer linked to your login.
- Reviews you wrote stay with the business, shown on its page with the first name from the booking while that page is published. If the business closes, they are kept but no longer shown.
- Messages you sent to a business through Ongati stay with that business.
- Records of emails and text messages sent to you through Ongati stay, with the email address or phone number they went to. Event messages sent through your login are the exception listed above.
- Reports you sent about reviews stay in Ongati's moderation records.
- Consent records stay, including the consent you gave when booking, with the IP address used, and text consent and opt-out records.
- Support requests you sent to Ongati by email or through the website, with the name and email address on them.
- If you opened your referral page, your referral link and Ongati's referral records stay, with the name on your account at that time. Deleting your account does not switch the link off.
- The age confirmation you gave when you signed up stays with the archived login.
- An archived placeholder of your login, with no name, email address, or phone number, so records that refer to it stay valid.
- A record that you deleted your account, with a one-way hash of your email address, and the IP address and browser details of the request.
- Kept records have no automatic deletion date.
Close a business
Closing a business ends it on Ongati. Only the business's sole owner can close it. If the business has another active owner, the Close business screen names them, and the business stays open. To stop using Ongati yourself, delete your account with the business user steps above.
Choose Close businessOpen the business's Settings and choose Close business. It is in the Ongati app and in a web browser.
Check what will changeBefore anything changes, the screen shows how many upcoming appointments will be canceled. It also says that a paid plan ends now with no refund, that any messaging credit is not refunded, and that your public page, QR code and links stop working. This can't be undone.
Confirm with the business name and your passwordType the business name and enter your password, plus a sign-in code when Ongati asks for one. Then choose Close business.
Some businesses need Ongati's help to close: for example, when an upcoming appointment has a paid deposit, a payment, refund, or plan change is still in progress, an invoice is unpaid, the business has credit on its Ongati bill or a referral reward that is still owed, or an upcoming event has sign-ups. The screen then says “Contact privacy@ongati.com to close this business.” and nothing changes. A suspended business cannot be closed in Ongati: Delete account shows that same line for it instead of a Close business link. Email privacy@ongati.com for help.
Business closure: what happens
- Every upcoming appointment is canceled. Ongati tells each of those customers by text when they chose text messages and texting them is allowed, and otherwise by email. The confirm screen first tells you how many customers can't be reached by text or email, so you can contact them yourself.
- Waitlist entries are closed without an email.
- A paid plan ends now, with no refund.
- Automatic top-up is turned off, and the cards saved for Ongati billing are removed, so nothing is charged later.
- Any messaging credit left is not refunded.
- The public page, QR code and links show that the business has closed, and the business no longer appears in Find a business.
- Every team member's access to the business ends, including yours. Each person keeps their own Ongati login, and team members get a short email.
- Pending team invitations and ownership transfers are canceled.
- Calendars connected for the business are disconnected.
- You get an email confirming what was canceled and closed.
Business closure: kept
- Your Ongati login. To delete it, follow the business user steps above.
- The business's bookings, including the canceled appointments, with its customer records, reviews, messages, and form answers.
- Payment, plan, and billing records, including the records Stripe keeps.
- The messaging credit history, including a record of the credit that was not refunded.
- Photos and files the business uploaded.
- Team profiles, turned off, and records of the canceled invitations and ownership transfers.
- Consent and opt-out records.
- Ongati's record of the closure, with who closed the business, when, and what was canceled, and Ongati's other audit records.
- Kept records have no automatic deletion date.
If you cannot sign in
Email privacy@ongati.com or call 1-877-541-BOOK. Tell us whether you have a business user account or a customer account, and the email address on it. Do not send your password or a sign-in code. We will explain how we confirm that the account is yours before we delete it.
Deleting an account removes or anonymizes the details listed above. It does not erase every record. The records listed as kept stay so that each business keeps its own records, consent choices keep being honored, Ongati keeps its own support and audit records, and records that refer to your login stay valid. Closing a business ends it on Ongati but keeps the records listed under Business closure: kept. For more, see the Privacy Policy.
